Agreed cooperation of the Film Center with key European institutions

On the occasion of Montenegro's upcoming chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, the Permanent Mission of Montenegro in Strasbourg and the JU Film Center of Montenegro are planning a series of activities that will be implemented in the period between November 2026 and June 2027, with the aim of promoting Montenegrin cinematography and complementary activities that affirm European values ​​- the Film Center announced.

In order to achieve greater visibility of Montenegro in multilateral frameworks, in addition to cinematography, as announced, the participation of representatives of departments in charge of culture, justice, human and minority rights, media, sustainable development, environmental protection, public administration, labor and social care, finance, internal affairs and police, as well as other relevant institutions is planned.

"The upcoming chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe is an important opportunity for Montenegrin cinematography to be more visible in the European audiovisual space. Through carefully designed programs, we want to show that Montenegro has authors and projects that participate equally in European trends, in partnership with key European institutions," said the director of the Film Center of Montenegro, Aleksandra Božović.

In this regard, as they add from the Film Center, a meeting was held in Strasbourg on December 2 with the executive director of the European Audiovisual Observatory, Pauline Durand-Vale, which was attended by Božović and the minister-adviser in the Permanent Mission of Montenegro to the Council of Europe, Mladen Dragašević.

"The executive director of the Observatory expressed full readiness for cooperation, and special interest in the legislative framework of audiovisual activities in our country. On the same occasion, on December 3, a meeting was held with the executive director of Eurimages, the Council of Europe's cinematography fund, Suzan Newman-Bode, who gave full support to the organization of events and activities arising from Montenegrin membership in this fund, all with the aim of strengthening multilateral cooperation in the field of cinematography and the promotion of Montenegrin filmmaking and affirmation of European film co-productions", continued the announcement.

During her stay in Strasbourg, Božović also spoke with the permanent representative of Montenegro at the Council of Europe, Ambassador Božidarka Krunić.

"At the meeting, the role of the Permanent Mission in promoting the program that will accompany the presidency was discussed, as well as the possibilities for strengthening coordination between state institutions and the cultural sector, with special reference to the more recognizable positioning of Montenegrin cinematography within the framework of the Council of Europe," the announcement said.

The regular session of the members of the Eurimaž Fund Board was held on December 3 and 4 in Strasbourg, with the participation of the national representative of Montenegro - Božović.

"It has been agreed that in the coming period, in close coordination with the European Audiovisual Observatory and Eurimage, a program framework will be defined that will include screenings of Montenegrin and co-production films, thematic panel discussions, professional workshops and presentations of good practices, which will further strengthen the position of Montenegrin cinematography within the European audiovisual space", is the conclusion of the announcement.
