Spanish coach Kike Sanchez Flores has been appointed as the new head coach of Alaves, the club announced, succeeding Eduardo Cudde, who left the team earlier in the day.

Flores has extensive coaching experience, having managed Sevilla, Getafe, Watford, Espanyol, Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Benfica during his career, as well as clubs from Asia - Shanghai Shenhua, Al Ain and Al Ahli.

Alaves are currently in 16th place in La Liga with 27 points, three more than Mallorca, which is in the relegation zone, so Flores' task will be to move the team away from the danger zone and stabilize results until the end of the season.
