Residents of Park-šuma Zagorič have asked Mayor Saša Mujović to allow them free legalization of the houses they built on state-owned plots about two decades ago - and to abolish, as they say, the high interest rates the state charged them for those plots. They are also demanding a review of the rulings that returned the land to private ownership.
"I told you that the city cannot forgive the interest, nor solve this problem. This is a state issue. This is not just your issue, but we have Kakaricka Gora, Malo Brdo and half of Podgorica – you are all the same to me," said Mayor Mujović.
Mujović says that if someone believes that they have not met the expectations of citizens, there are elections.
"I won't lie to you. I repeat, this is a state issue, we'll see how the state decides towards you and others who have these problems," he added.
Some of the residents of Zagorič said that they have been waiting for this for 20 years, and that Mujović is the only mayor who has received them.
Mujović told the locals that the city administration had fulfilled its promises.
"Did I deceive you? Did I promise that the Zagorič forest park would be paved, were you the first to get asphalt and the first thing I did in Podgorica when I became mayor - the forest was paved - three kilometers of roads were built," Mujović asked the crowd.
He emphasizes that the long-standing problem with the quality of electricity in that settlement will soon be resolved.
"The electricity is not good, the electricity cannot be increased with a button from the city. We have done everything to get approval so that in about ten days, approval will be obtained for CEDIS to build a substation. In 10 to 15 days, work will begin and the possibility of getting a substation will be created," said the mayor.
Mujović states that every meeting with citizens was sincere.
"I did not come to ask for votes. Every time we met, my only true story was - I will do everything for you within the law and legal possibilities," he concluded.
The city administration remains consistent with its goal - to improve the standard of living of the citizens of Podgorica, said the mayor.
