The Chinese festival delegation will be in Kotor, where their representative Simple Neo-Classical Electric Band will perform on May 19. The concert will be held at the Museum Square starting at 8 p.m. The event will also be attended by some of the EFA delegates, who will be in Montenegro during those days for the annual EFA Summit organized by the Budva City Theatre Public Institution. Representatives of the EFA and CSIAF will also meet with the President of the Municipality of Kotor, Vladimir Jokić, as well as representatives of Kotor cultural institutions.
"The upcoming performances in China represent an exceptional recognition for the Kotor City Music Orchestra and confirmation of the quality of our many years of work. The guest appearance at the CSIAF opens new doors for Montenegrin culture on the Asian continent," emphasized Vladimir Begović, president of the Kotor City Music Orchestra 1842. Conductor Dario Krivokapić emphasized that the orchestra will strive to present the rich musical tradition of Kotor and Montenegro to the Chinese and international audience in the best possible way through quality musicianship and carefully selected repertoire.
Along with the Kotor City Music 1842, a delegation from the Municipality of Kotor will travel to Shanghai, on a return visit after the arrival of the Shanghai delegation to Kotor in 2024, led by the Vice President of the Shanghai Government, Liu Duo. The Kotor Municipality delegation will be led by President Vladimir Jokić, together with representatives of the cultural and tourism sectors, with the aim of further developing concrete cooperation projects between the two cities.
"We want to use the trip to China and the important performance of the City Music to strengthen institutional cooperation between Kotor and Shanghai in the areas of culture, tourism and sustainable development. We believe that such exchanges bring long-term benefits to both cities," said President Jokić.
Through the guest appearance of the Kotor 1842 City Music Festival in Shanghai and the arrival of the world's leading festival actors in Kotor, the city's cultural scene clearly promotes its place on the contemporary European and world cultural map, as well as the openness, high quality and willingness to cooperate with the most important global institutions in the field of art and the festival scene that both Kotor and Montenegro deserve.
Visits by foreign delegations and a concert by a visiting Chinese ensemble are part of the official celebration of 20 years of the restoration of Montenegrin independence in Kotor.
