Raičević with Tiso: Partnership of local governments with international organizations of particular importance for improving the quality of life of citizens

The Mayor of the Municipality of Bar, Dušan Raičević, received on an official visit the United Nations Coordinator in Montenegro, Caroline Tiso, with her associate Anjet Lanting, Human Rights Advisor, and the meeting was an opportunity for an open and constructive dialogue, as well as for the sublimation of the successful cooperation of the Municipality of Bar with the United Nations and UN system agencies that implement their programs and projects in Montenegro.

Raičević introduced the interlocutors to the overall development of Bar as one of the most important economic, transport and tourist centers of Montenegro. He presented the strategic directions of the city's development, with special emphasis on projects to improve infrastructure, spatial management, encourage tourism development and diversify the local economy, as well as numerous social programs and policies that the local government continuously implements and which contribute to a better quality of life for citizens.

Raičević emphasized that Bar is recognized as a city that bases its development on the values ​​of multiculturalism, social responsibility and inclusiveness, and as an environment that has opened its doors to numerous refugees and foreigners who have chosen Bar to live in, which is a testament to the fact that Bar cherishes and lives essential European and cosmopolitan values. He emphasized the readiness of the local administration to continue to be a reliable partner for international organizations in the implementation of development and socially responsible initiatives in the coming period.

The United Nations Resident Coordinator, Caroline Tiso, expressed her satisfaction with the adoption of the Charter on Social Cohesion in the Municipality of Bar, emphasizing that it represents an important foundation for building a community based on trust, solidarity and inclusion. She emphasized the importance of sustainable development, as well as the protection of the environment and cultural heritage, and thanked the representatives of the Municipality of Bar for their continued and constructive cooperation.

The meeting also discussed future models of cooperation between the Municipality of Bar and the United Nations on projects related to sustainable spatial management, environmental protection and further development of services intended for inclusion, social protection and strengthening of local democracy and human rights, with both sides expressing their belief that the partnership of local governments with international organizations is of particular importance for improving the quality of life of all citizens.
