The 2024 French Open finalist finished his match late last night, defeating home player Quentin Alys in four sets - 6:4, 6:3, 5:7, 6:2 to advance to the round of 16.
Zverev led 2:0 in sets and 2:0 in games, but then a slump in play followed, which the Frenchman, ranked 90th on the ATP list, was able to punish and reduce to 2:1, after winning the third set 7:5.
However, this did not bother the German, of Russian origin, who served fantastically in the fourth set and broke his rival twice.
His next opponent is Dutchman Jesper de Jong, who eliminated Karen Khachanov 3:1.
