He said that citizens are the employers of public officials and that it is unacceptable for the Prime Minister not to address them or to refuse to receive them at a time of economic and energy crisis.
"The state must come up with a proposal for measures. We must have an anti-crisis package of measures to protect citizens and the economy. It should include price limits on basic foodstuffs, subsidies for small and medium-sized enterprises, subsidies for energy for citizens and the economy. The situation is not good and we need a serious approach to solving these problems," he said on the TV Nova M show Naslovi.
Konatar outlined the dilemma of most citizens – how to survive with these prices, recalling the particular vulnerability of pensioners. He recalled that more than 50 percent of pensioners receive pensions of 450 euros, and 80 percent up to 550 euros: "Imagine someone receiving 500 euros, someone who has been paying taxes and contributions into the pension fund for 40 years. How can you expect to survive with these prices."
Commenting on the Prime Minister's statements that his Government has done more for citizens than the previous ones, the URE MP reminded that citizens have nothing to do with the talk of what has been done, but rather that they should talk about what will be done now.
He recalled that Spajić refused to accept pensioners who came from Rožaje and Bijelo Polje, stating that they, like truck drivers and many others, then saw a protest as the only solution.
"We are elected to public office by citizens, they are our employers, they finance the work of the Government and the administration," said Konatar, adding that he supports the union's demands to increase the wage coefficient.
