In a not very high-quality, but extremely exciting and dramatic Eternal Derby, Partizan defeated Red Star Belgrade (89:82) as a guest tonight in the 35th round of the Euroleague.

The "black and white" thus recorded their sixth consecutive triumph in the elite competition and now have a score of 15-20, while the "red and white", for whom this match had a much greater significance in terms of results, remained at 19-16.

With this celebration, Partizan got revenge on their big rival for their recent defeat in the ABA League, and it was also the second time this season that they were better than Red Star in the Euroleague, after previously celebrating as the home team with a score of 79:76.

The guests managed to control the racket and rebound, and in the end they had seven more rebounds than their rivals (36-29).

As reported by Serbian media, before the start of the match, there was a clash between Red Star fans and the police in front of the stadium.

The first quarter was a basket-for-basket affair, with Partizan holding a minimal lead after ten minutes – 21:20. With a 12:2 run on the wings of Sterling Brown, Giovan Peñaroja's team went up nine points midway through the second quarter – 33:24. A period of many mistakes on both sides followed, and Red Star managed to pull away from the game and equalize by halftime (38:38).

The "Red and Whites" opened the third period better and with a 4:0 run gained the maximum plus four – 42:38. Partizan responded with an 11:1 run and turned it around to 49:43, and before the decisive period Karlik Jones and his teammates entered with a plus possession – 58:55.

For the first time, one team gained a double-digit lead with eight minutes left, when Isak Bonga hit a three-pointer for 67:57, and the same player then made two more, and after Niko Kalates' three-pointer, the scoreboard read 72:57. After Bonga's new three-pointer, the "black and white" had a maximum plus 16 – 75:59.

The team from Humska seemed to be in control of the situation on the court, but then Cody Miller-McIntyre "appeared" and with a few good moves reduced the lead to 80:70, and then Ebuka Izundu hit three of four shots for minus seven - 80:73 with two and a half minutes left.

The rivals' 8:0 run was interrupted by Karlk Jones from the penalty spot, but McIntyre, Izundu and Moneke from the penalty spot brought the team closer to just a possession of the deficit after Calathes missed two throws and then made strides in his own half – 82:79 with a minute left. The home team had a chance to reduce the deficit further, but Butler missed, and then Jones on the other side made an unreal shot from the ground under a foul, and then after a short interruption due to throwing objects onto the floor, he also made an additional throw for 85:79.

Saša Obradović's team did not give up, and McIntyre quickly hit a three-pointer – 85:82. A timeout by Peñarroya followed with 22 seconds left. After the timeout, Butler sent Karlik to the penalty line, and the Euroleague MVP of the month for March was calm and made both shots – 87:82. McIntyre again took responsibility, but this time he did not hit from the entrance. Bruno Fernando blocked the racket, and then put an end to the game with two penalties – 89:82.

The winners were led by Karlik Jones with 26 and Sterling Branu with 22. They were followed by Bruno Fernando with 15 and Isak Bonga with 12, seven of which came in the final period.

Na drugoj strani odskočio je Kodi Miler-Mekintajer sa 24 poena, devet asistencija i četiri skoka. Dvocifrenu su bili još Hasijel Rivero (13) i Džordan Nvora (12).

Partizan is expecting a demanding schedule next week – first they will play away to Efes, then they will welcome Žalgiris in the Euroleague double round, while before that (Sunday) they will also play away to Buducnost in Podgorica in the ABA League.

Crvena Zvezda will play an ABA League match against Igokea away in two days, followed by a double round of the Euroleague in which they will host Paris and then visit Asvel.

The following results were recorded in the other matches of the 35th round:

Hapoel Tel Aviv – Panathinaikos 92:88

Zalgiris – Barcelona 83:71

Dubai – Monaco 101:91

Pariz – Olimpija Milano 103:93
