The ministry states that this program, implemented by the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO) in cooperation with the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ), is part of an important multi-donor project co-financed by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
The goal of the initiative, the ministry said, is to create new opportunities for young people to work on breaking stereotypes, encouraging critical thinking, and building lasting connections through joint educational and cultural activities.
"Throughout the four cycles of this program so far, a total of 348 schools have been supported at the regional level, which has resulted in the formation of 170 partner pairs. The importance of the project is also reflected in the empowerment of teaching staff, with 588 teachers undergoing specialized training and mentoring. With the direct participation of around 5,000 students, with an additional nearly 9,000 young people who were indirectly involved, the program has established itself as a leader in the promotion of intercultural competences and dialogue," the ministry emphasizes.
They point out that the impact of the project in Montenegro is extremely significant, with 23 supported schools and partner pairs implementing two exchanges each. These activities directly involve around 345 students and 46 teacher coordinators, while close to 700 young people are involved through local activities. The success of the program in our country is confirmed by the active participation of numerous educational institutions, including high schools in Rožaje, Berane and Kotor, the Educational Center in Plužine, as well as high schools in Nikšić, Bijelo Polje, Tuzi, Ulcinj, Herceg Novi, Tivat, Podgorica and Bar.
High schools from the region also participate in the program.
They state that by participating in this program, our high school students become part of the wider European family, developing skills that are necessary for modern society and regional stability.
"The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation will continue to support such initiatives that improve the quality of education and enable our young talents to create a better and more connected future through cooperation with their peers from the surrounding area," the statement concludes.
