The current situation on the petroleum products market in Montenegro is stable and there is enough fuel, with the conclusion from the session of the Council for Ensuring Secure Supply of the Petroleum Products Market that there are no indications of disruptions in supply, the Ministry of Energy and Mining announced.

As they state, in conditions of unpredictable market developments, the need for continuous coordination of all sectors was emphasized, in order to plan further steps in a timely manner and ensure market stability and security of supply, which was emphasized by the Minister of Energy and Mining. I admire Šahmanović at the beginning of the session.

"The session was chaired by the Minister of Energy and Mining, Admir Šahmanović, and at the proposal of the Minister, an expanded session was held, which, in addition to the permanent members, was attended by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management. Vladimir Jokovic and State Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Family Care and Demography dawn Ibahimi", the statement reads.

They add that the invitation to participate has also been sent to the departments of transport, economic development, and finance, bearing in mind that the current situation requires continued interdepartmental cooperation and coordination.

"The focus of the session was the current situation on the oil and oil derivatives market, including the impact of global developments on fuel prices and potential risks for the Montenegrin economy and citizens, as well as constant price changes that inevitably affect all spheres of society," the statement said.

Special emphasis is placed on, they add, collecting the most relevant information directly from the largest importers and distributors.

In this context, Minister Šahmanović emphasized that he proposed an expanded composition of today's session so that other departments in the Government of Montenegro would have a precise picture of the market situation, but also of possible further steps that could be taken to reduce the negative impact of the rising trend in oil product prices.

"The measures that we have recommended and proposed in the energy and mining sector so far are primarily aimed at reducing prices, so that citizens feel the disruptions as little as possible, so I am talking about reducing excise taxes. The second measure, recommended by the ministry, is aimed at the business community and creating more favorable business conditions, through shortening the calculation period for retail prices of petroleum products. These measures have yielded results and we are in constant communication with companies that import and distribute petroleum products. On the other hand, the entire world is facing uncertainty and unpredictability of the market, and even in the event of an imminent end to the conflict in the Middle East, the consequences of these events may affect market trends and price growth trends in the long term. Therefore, it is important that each of the sectors, within their respective areas of competence, monitor the situation and plan measures that could be gradually introduced to support the economy and citizens," said Šahmanović.

The Council will, they say, send the minutes from today's session to key departments, along with a proposal for the development of individual plans of measures for each area, in order to enable timely action and further strengthen the system's readiness for possible changes in the market.

"The Chairman of the Council, the Minister of Energy and Mining, proposed that, in conditions of pronounced global uncertainty and oscillations in the energy market, the possibilities of introducing support measures, including subsidies for farmers, transporters and the most vulnerable categories of the population, be further considered. Our priority remains the preservation of stable supply and the protection of citizens' standards, with a timely and coordinated response from all departments, in order to minimize any negative effects," emphasized Šahmanović.

The statement states that the session highlighted the challenge in border regions, where an increase in consumption has been recorded due to the arrival of citizens from neighboring countries where the prices of derivatives are higher compared to our market.

They add that it has been agreed to collect additional data and conduct a detailed analysis for consideration and possible introduction of appropriate measures.

Minister Vladimir Joković emphasized that they are emphasizing that the focus is on helping farmers, especially during the sensitive sowing period when fuel consumption is highest, and that further steps will depend on discussions and agreements with the Ministry of Finance and the opportunities that are available.

"I am here primarily because of our farmers. We are in a challenging time and we are all in trouble together, especially considering the global circumstances and possible disruptions in supply chains and the potential increase in fuel prices. The state has limited room for maneuver because we are import-dependent, but we will do everything we can to help domestic producers. We must bear in mind that many farmers are not able to bring machinery from remote villages and areas to the pumps, but are forced to pour fuel into mobile canisters and similar containers, which must be understood," said Joković.

He adds that all further measures will depend on discussions with the Ministry of Finance and an assessment of possibilities.

"I want to say that all agricultural producers can be sure that the Ministry of Agriculture will think of them in all discussions and work in their interests, to the extent possible and within the framework of existing options," concludes Joković.
