A big blow for Barcelona - captain and one of the Catalan team's best players, Rafinha, will be out for around five weeks due to a hamstring injury, the club announced.

The Brazilian was injured at the end of the first half of the friendly match against France.

"Rafinha has a right hamstring injury, as confirmed by medical examinations carried out by the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) after he felt discomfort during the Brazil-France match in Boston on Thursday. The player is returning to Barcelona to begin the appropriate recovery treatment. The estimated time to return to the field is five weeks," Barcelona said.

The brilliant winger has been in top form this season – scoring 19 goals and providing eight assists in 31 matches in all competitions.

Due to the injury, Rafinha will almost certainly miss the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Atletico Madrid, and his possible appearance in the first leg of the semi-final is also questionable if Barcelona advances.

Hansi Flick's team is currently the leader of La Liga with 73 points, so they will have to manage without one of their most important attacking players at the end of the season.
