Podgorica will be the center of regional women's basketball today and tomorrow, as the WABA League final tournament is scheduled, where Budućnost Bemax has the opportunity to defend the title it won last year.

The Montenegrin champion plays in the semi-finals against Celje in a rematch of last year's final at 6 p.m., while the first match of the day (3:30 p.m.) will be played between debutants Partizan and Montana.

WABA League President Srbobran Filipović emphasized that the conditions are at a high level and that he expects an exciting finale.

"As always, we feel great here. This is the 25th anniversary season and we are proud of the development of the competition. There is a tradition that the cup is often won by the guests, but let the best win this time," said Filipović.

Budućnost u završnicu ulazi kao aktuelni šampion, a trener Petar Stojanović koji je proglašen za najboljeg trenera regularnog dijela regionalnog takmičenja vjeruje da njegov tim može ponoviti uspjeh.

"I expect a nice tournament, because the chances are pretty even. We are playing against Celje, which has a quality team and will be a very unpleasant rival. However, we have trained well and I believe that we will present ourselves in a good light," said Stojanović.

This year, the emphasis is also on the humanitarian campaign "A Stuffed Animal for Joy", which is organized in cooperation with the group "Nine Good Women", so before the start of the matches, the audience will throw stuffed animals onto the field for the needs of the Children's Home.

"We don't feel the pressure of the result, we want to send a beautiful picture from Podgorica and draw attention to women's basketball, but also to the importance of humanity," added Stojanović.

The rival in the semi-finals, Celje, comes with ambitions, which was confirmed by coach Damir Grgič.

"We've had our ups and downs during the season, but we're in a good rhythm. We've got a tough match ahead of us against Buducnost, but anything is possible in one game," Grgic pointed out.

In the second semi-final, Partizan is playing in the final tournament for the first time, and coach Miroslav Popov emphasizes that the key will be good defense.

"Montana is a strong team, but we will try to play well and make it to the finals," said Popov.

Montana coach Preslav Pešev believes his team can make a breakthrough.

"This is a big chance for us, we want to finally reach the final," said Pešev.

Everything is ready for the final in Podgorica, where the new WABA League champion will be decided in the next two days.
