During the two-day visit, they discussed improving cooperation in the field of security, with a particular focus on strengthening institutional capacities, modernizing police structures, and implementing reforms in line with European standards.

"The meetings discussed high-level security threats, with particular emphasis on the fight against organized crime, hybrid threats, human trafficking, illegal migration, as well as strengthening security at state borders within the European Union and police reform. It was noted that the law enforcement authorities of Lithuania provide strong support to the Police Administration of Montenegro on the path of reform, strengthening the rule of law, fighting all forms of crime, as well as strengthening resilience to security challenges and hybrid threats," the statement added.

Special emphasis was placed on the exchange of experiences and best practices, as they say, as well as on the establishment and development of bilateral cooperation between the two police organizations.

"Models for the exchange of information and best practices in the field of state border security, using modern equipment, as well as in the field of cybersecurity and improving analytical capacities, have been defined. Additionally, the exchange of police officers from certain organizational units has been agreed. In this context, the first concrete steps have been agreed that will contribute to the intensification of joint activities in the coming period," the statement said.

During their visit to Lithuania, Šćepanović and Bojić, together with their associates, met with senior representatives of the Border Service of that country, and on that occasion they also visited part of the external border of the European Union.

"This visit represents a significant step towards deepening cooperation with partner services of the Republic of Lithuania and further strengthening reform processes in the field of security, including border security," the Police Directorate concluded in a statement.
