"Namely, DPS was forced to withdraw its own proposal, aware that it did not have the necessary majority even within the ranks of the opposition, although a simple majority was prescribed for it. This avoided another defeat in the vote, but the political message remains clear: initiatives that do not have even a minimum of support cannot be the basis for conducting serious politics," he points out.
It is particularly important, he says, to emphasize that the essence of this proposal was an attempt to dissolve the current composition of the RTV Podgorica Council, which would open up space for the re-establishment of political influence over the local public broadcaster. Such attempts to regain control over the media represent a practice from which Podgorica has resolutely distanced itself.
"The time when the media served as an instrument of political centers of power is over. The time of the Udar portal, the guest appearances of obscure regional politicians on Tamara Nikčević's shows is over. The time of making derogatory documentaries about Metropolitan Amfilohije on the Public Service is over. The citizens of Podgorica deserve a professional, responsible and independent public service, and this is a direction we will not give up on," he said in a statement.
In conclusion, he says that this is another debacle for the opposition, another victory for Podgorica!
