The coach of the "goddess", Rafaele Paladino, admitted that the rival was simply elusive.
"First of all, congratulations to Bayern. They are too strong and at times elusive. For us, the best were the fans, who supported us until the very end. This experience will make us better, both as players and as a team. If we were to play again, I would go the same way," Paladino told Italian Sky Sport immediately after the match, and then added:
"I've never seen players with this quality. They impressed me - they always gave the ball to the players on their preferred foot and at the right speed. We had four big absences and few options up front. We couldn't get back and they would win the ball right away. The difference between the teams is in the players," said Paladino.
Atalanta now needs to recover quickly because they face a tough away game against league leaders Inter at San Siro in Serie A on Saturday.
"The team always reacts well to defeats and we will react on Saturday. We are playing against a strong team again – Inter – but I told the players that they have to accept the result and gather their energy," concluded the coach of the team from Bergamo.
