Expressing his satisfaction with the visit of one of the most significant names in European basketball in recent history, Mayor Mujović emphasized that Garbahose's arrival in his capacity as President of FIBA Europe has a special significance for Montenegrin sports.
"It is a great pleasure to host Mr. Garbahosa, who as a player left a deep mark on world basketball, and today, as the President of FIBA Europe, he has the opportunity to further contribute to its development. His support for the Basketball Federation of Montenegro can be of exceptional importance. Montenegro is a hotbed of talent, and as the capital and as a country, we are ready to support the organization of numerous competitions and the further development of infrastructure," said Mujović.
The Mayor particularly emphasized that Podgorica is the basketball center of the country, with quality infrastructure and sports teams that represent the pride of Montenegro, including, of course, KK Budućnost. He emphasized that joint action by the state, the capital, clubs and the Basketball Federation can bring significant benefits to one of the most important national sports.
FIBA Europe President Jorge Garbahosa thanked for the warm welcome and emphasized that Podgorica and Montenegro are an example of an environment where basketball has strong support and prospects.
"I thank the mayor and his team for the warm welcome and the energy they shared today. I am very glad to be in a city that strongly supports basketball. We discussed the potential for cooperation and the implementation of future activities. When I talk to my FIBA colleagues about Montenegro, I say that it is a miracle country - a small country with exceptional talents that it should be proud of," said Garbahosa, adding that during his stay in Podgorica he visited KK Budućnost and SC Derby, as well as the Bemax Arena and Morača Sports Center, where he enthusiastically watched the national team's match against Greece last night in a great atmosphere.
According to the Capital City, the visit of the FIBA Europe delegation represents an additional incentive for the further affirmation of Podgorica as an important center of basketball events in the region and a confirmation of the city's commitment to continue investing in the development of this sport, together with the Federation and clubs.
