In Montenegro, 369,200 overnight stays in collective and individual accommodation were recorded during January, which is about 3% more than in the same period last year, RTCG announced.

Domestic guests realized 22,005 overnight stays, and foreign guests realized 347,195. According to official data from MONSTAT, January 2025 recorded 358,231 overnight stays.

The number of tourists who visited our country from the beginning of the year to the end of January is 52,824, which represents an achievement of 92.27% of last year's number of visitors for the same period. According to experts in tourism flows, the slightly lower number of visits is a consequence of the unpleasant scenes at the end of 2025, related to Turkish citizens and the accident on the Savin Kuk cable car, where a German citizen lost his life.

This is supported by the fact that there were 50% fewer tourists from Turkey in January, and that tourist traffic in Žabljak is about 20% lower than expected. However, the winter season in Žabljak is still ongoing, and there is a real possibility that the local tourism industry will significantly mitigate the consequences of the accident.

Ski resorts in Montenegro have recorded 50 ski days, which is incomparably better than in the previous two years when snowfall did not go well for tourism workers. Climate change brings great risks to the field of winter tourism and artificial snow systems are becoming an imperative. Therefore, the development plans of any serious ski resort must move towards sustainable modernization.
