He was defeated by his compatriot and namesake Beretina at the score of 7:5, 5:2 due to a left leg injury. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Berrettini entered the match furiously, taking a 3-0 lead with a double break. However, Arnaldi responded with four games in a row to turn the game around to 4-3, then won the opening set 7-5. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arnaldi took a 2-0 lead in the second set, Berrettini broke back to reduce the lead to 2-1. After that, the 2021 Wimbledon finalist requested medical attention, but it did not help him. He was struggling to move and then at 5-2 his boxing asked him to surrender the match, which he did. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next up is grass and Wimbledon, so Berrettini probably didn't want to risk aggravating the injury. The Italian has had a number of injuries throughout his career, which is why he is currently outside the Top 100. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Berettini thus failed to reach the semifinals of the second Grand Slam of the season for the first time in his career, but repeated his success from 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arnaldi, on the other hand, will play in the semifinals with another compatriot, Flavio Cobolli, who earlier eliminated Felix Auger-Aliassime 3:1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the second semi-final, Alexander Zverev and Jakub Menshick will face off. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both semi-finals are scheduled for Friday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
