\"Police officers of the Nik\u0161i\u0107 Security Department, while undertaking planned activities to detect, clarify and prove the criminal offense of usury, on May 14, 2026, in coordination with the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Nik\u0161i\u0107, deprived SV (52) from Nik\u0161i\u0107 of his liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of usury,\" the police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police officers from the Nik\u0161i\u0107 Security Department yesterday, in cooperation with officers from the Special Police Unit, and pursuant to a court order, conducted searches at several locations used by the SV, located in Nik\u0161i\u0107 and Budva, during which certain records were found and temporarily seized, which will be the subject of further expert examination and used as evidence in criminal proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"During the criminal investigation, which was conducted over a long period of time, it was determined that the named person, taking advantage of the difficult financial situation of several people from the Nik\u0161i\u0107 and Budva areas, provided loans in amounts ranging from 500 to 70,000 euros, contracting disproportionately high usurious interest rates on a monthly basis,\" the police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also suspected that for the amounts he gave at usurious interest, he took certain amounts of money from the injured parties, while as a means of securing the collection of claims, he took the movable and immovable property of the injured parties, such as apartments, land and vehicles, thereby, as is reasonably suspected, committing the criminal offense of usury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"The acting state prosecutor was informed about the measures and actions taken, as well as the evidence collected, and he ordered that the suspect SV be deprived of his liberty on suspicion of having committed the aforementioned criminal offense, and that he be brought to further jurisdiction within the legal deadline, along with a criminal report,\" the police point out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In relation to the acquired property of the suspect SV and his close relatives, the Police Directorate officers, in coordination with the acting prosecutor's office, will conduct a financial investigation in order to determine the legality of the acquisition, as well as the possible initiation of proceedings for the permanent confiscation of property acquired through criminal activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
