In the general elections, 3.4 million voters will elect three members of the Presidency of BiH, as well as 518 deputies in the state and two entity parliaments and ten cantonal assemblies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A novelty of the general elections should be the introduction of biometric voter identification, ballot scanning and video surveillance at around 5,000 polling stations, which should enable a faster, more efficient and more reliable election process, writes RFE\/RL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For this job, worth 38 million euros, the American company Smartmatic was selected in the tender, with which, according to information from the Central Election Commission the day before the elections were called, a contract for the procurement of equipment has not yet been signed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The deadline for equipment delivery is 139 days, but the CEC of BiH, in an earlier statement to RFE\/RL, could not confirm whether everything would be ready by the election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
