The President of the Democrats, Aleksa Be\u010di\u0107, together with state and local officials, spoke with the citizens of Momi\u0161i\u0107 in Podgorica, saying that the values \u200b\u200bon which the Democrats were founded and survived are the greatest strength of a policy, because they are not traded, they are not sold and cannot be bought.
Be\u010di\u0107 emphasized that politics that rests on clean hands, a clean face, and sincere intentions can make decisions freely, courageously, and in the interest of citizens.
\"When you gather around true values, when your hands and face are clean, when your intentions are sincere, and morality and freedom always come first, then a person can decide with their own head. No one can corrupt such a person, no one can blackmail, no one can scare, no one can demotivate when key reform processes need to be implemented. It was up to us, even when we were in the opposition, to gather the good in Montenegro, to bring new value that our country was missing and to stop the politics of division that has held society in shackles and blocked reforms for decades,\" said Be\u010di\u0107.
He said that those who have lived off division for decades are still trying to return Montenegro to the past, because they have nothing to offer in the future.
\"Even today, with the help of various players, they are trying to take Montenegro back 20, 30, 50 or 100 years. They are trying to count us again according to old trenches, according to difficult historical divisions, according to wounds that our people have already paid too dearly for. But these are futile attempts. Eleven years ago, we mapped out the highway of a safe, civil, European, healthy and victorious Montenegro,\" Be\u010di\u0107 emphasized.
The President of the Democrats said that political opponents know very well who they are dealing with, with people who owe nothing to anyone, except the citizens of Montenegro.
\"They know who they are dealing with. They know that we have brought everything we started to the end, because we have no obligation to any center of power, to any criminal circle, to any interest group. We are accountable only to the people. And that is why Montenegro is not being built today as a police state, as those who have turned institutions into private property are trying to plant. No. This is Montenegro that is being built as a state of strong institutions, a clean and professional security sector, a state in which professionals should be in key positions. Ours was to open the door to professionals, to stand behind them and to strengthen the capacities of institutions through personnel, operational-technical and value reforms,\" \u200b\u200bBe\u010di\u0107 said.
During the conversation with the citizens of Momi\u0161i\u0107, the Democrats emphasize, it was jointly concluded that their opponents do not have any new value to offer to the citizens. Their political power is weakening, their support is decreasing, as confirmed by numerous electoral processes in the previous period, and their only strategy remains an attempt to discourage citizens and convince them that \"they are all the same.\"
\"Our competition knows that there is no new value, no matter how much it tries to hide it with narratives and media constructions. People are leaving them, their political power is collapsing, and some of their officials are facing serious accusations. That is why their goal is to use the media to demotivate citizens, disavow the public, and try to impose the mantra that everyone is the same and everything is the same. No. Not everything is the same, we are not the same, and we will never be the same,\" Be\u010di\u0107 emphasized.
He reminded that the results best speak to the difference between those who held Montenegro captive and those who are today decisively leading it towards the European Union.
\"In two years, we have closed 11 negotiation chapters and obtained IBAR. All previous governments in 12 years have closed only three chapters of a predominantly technical nature at the very beginning of the process. And then someone wants to say that everything is the same. No, not everything is the same. Many things have changed for the better, and the most important thing is that there is a sincere political will to continue at this pace,\" said Be\u010di\u0107.
He particularly emphasized that the Democrats remain on the defensive of the decisive fight against organized crime and corruption, because without strong and cleansed institutions there is no safe citizen, no free state, and no European future.
\"We found numerous deficits in the security sector. We found personnel gaps, value gaps, operational weaknesses and deep contamination by organized crime and corruption within the institutions of the system. This did not happen by chance. Someone has been purposefully collapsing the security sector for years and decades, because a weak system corresponded to strong crime. That is why today we are correcting what has been corrupted for years and returning the state to the hands of the law, institutions and honorable professionals,\" said Be\u010di\u0107.
Speaking about the security sector laws, Be\u010di\u0107 said that opponents of the reforms tried to hide the essence with noise, because they cannot dispute any solution with arguments.
\"You have seen the noise and fuss surrounding the security laws. They tried to cover up the essence with noise, so that citizens would not be able to see what is really written in those laws. But neither the citizens of Montenegro nor our European partners are ignorant. They know very well what the security sector used to be, what it is today, and how much work is being done together to improve it. That is why reforms on the path to healing institutions have been given the green light,\" concluded Be\u010di\u0107.
