It was assessed that relations between the two countries are friendly, based on mutual trust, good neighborliness and partnership within NATO, with a common strategic goal - membership in the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The focus of the talks was economic cooperation. It was noted that, despite very good political relations, it is still not at a high level, and that it is necessary to work on its improvement through increasing trade exchange, implementing joint investment projects and stronger connections between business communities. The interlocutors agreed that there is room for a more intensive presence of investments and companies in both markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"Political relations are excellent, but now is the time to raise economic cooperation to a level that matches the potential of our countries,\" said President Milatovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Milatovi\u0107 pointed out the need to organize a new joint session of the two governments as a mechanism for a more concrete implementation of joint initiatives, bearing in mind that the last one was held in 2019 in Podgorica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Special attention has been paid to improving transport connectivity, especially through the establishment of a direct Tivat-Skopje airline, which would further stimulate economic activities and tourist exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking about European integration, President Milatovi\u0107 reiterated that Montenegro's goal is to become a member of the European Union by 2028, recalling that 14 negotiation chapters have been closed. During the talks, opinions were also exchanged on the challenges in the European integration process. It was assessed that Montenegro's membership in the EU would represent a strong incentive for the region, with the message that the future of the Western Balkans lies in the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
