I am proud to announce that on March 30th we will officially open our newest base at Podgorica Airport," said Wizz Air Hungary CEO, Roland Tišner.

"With the opening of this base, Podgorica becomes the 37th base in the growing Wizz Air family, further strengthening its position as a key gateway between Montenegro and the rest of the continent. At Wizz Air, we believe in connecting people, creating opportunities and making travel accessible to all. Montenegro is a country with great tourism potential and strong international appeal, and we are proud to support its further development. The opening of this base is not just an expansion of our network, but a long-term commitment to Montenegro, its citizens and its future. We look forward to welcoming even more passengers to Podgorica in the coming years and further strengthening the connections between Montenegro and Europe," says Tischner.

Executive Director of the Airport of Montenegro, Roko Tolic He announced that Montenegro's airports now face "sweet worries".

"On the one hand, we are happy that we have met the wishes and needs of citizens and the economy - and the 17 new routes that we have contracted with just one airline partner, Wizz Air, in one wave is a result that would otherwise take years and years. On the other hand, we are aware that we are working with limited infrastructure capacities, that passenger comfort will be secondary, but safety and security will continue to be at the highest international standards, as before. I am sure that our employees, as seasoned professionals, will withstand this traffic and the challenging season ahead of us," said Tolić, adding that Podgorica Airport is ready to operate almost 24 hours a day.

"For now, the last landing is announced at 1.05, which practically means that our employees will be at their workplaces until two in the morning, because colleagues must remain at their positions as long as at least one passenger is in the terminal, and the first takeoff is at 6, which means that our employees must be at their workplaces from 3.45 - fifteen minutes before the registration counter opens," explained Tolić.

The opening of the base, as Wizz Air says, will bring significant benefits to the local economy. The development will create around 80 direct jobs at Wizz Air and support approximately 700 additional jobs indirectly in tourism, aviation and local services.

Wizz Air has been continuously expanding its presence in Montenegro since the launch of its first flight between Podgorica and Milan Bergamo in 2016, carrying almost two million passengers to and from the country. Today, the company offers 24 routes from Podgorica to 12 countries, and with the opening of the base, Wizz Air will become the number one airline at Podgorica Airport and the largest carrier in Montenegro as a whole.

This expansion comes as Wizz Air continues to grow across Europe. In 2025, the company added 42 new aircraft to its fleet, launched more than 320 new routes and carried 68.6 million passengers. Entering 2026, the company aims to serve more than 80 million passengers, further strengthening its position as one of the leading low-cost carriers in Europe.

By launching new routes and opening a base in Podgorica in just over a week, Wizz Air will bring even better connectivity, more travel opportunities and additional economic benefits to Montenegro.

These are Wizz Air's new routes in Podgorica:

Route Days of Operation Start

Podgorica – Malmo Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday March 29th

Podgorica – Paris Monday, Wednesday and Friday March 30

Podgorica – Hamburg Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday March 31st

Podgorica – Maastricht Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday March 31st

Podgorica – Catania (Sicily) Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 5 May

Podgorica – Bratislava Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday 21 May

Podgorica – Barcelona Monday, Wednesday and Friday June 1

Podgorica – Basel Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday June 1

Podgorica – Rzeszów Monday, Wednesday and Friday June 1

Podgorica – Rome Tuesday and Saturday June 2nd

Podgorica – Baden Baden Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday June 2nd

Podgorica – Cologne Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday June 2

Podgorica – Ljubljana Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday June 2

Podgorica – Poznan Thursday and Sunday June 4th

Podgorica – Vilnius Thursday and Sunday June 7th

Podgorica – Gdansk Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday June 7

Podgorica – Wroclaw Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday June 16

Wizz Air, the largest airline in Montenegro, is preparing to open its new base at Podgorica Airport on March 30, which represents an important step in the company's further expansion in Montenegro and brings a new wave of travel opportunities for passengers in the country, Montenegro Airport announced.

[8
3050,3151,28847,8346

post-944532","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-ekonomija","tag-aerodromi-crne-gore","tag-roko-tolic","tag-roland-tisner","tag-wizz-air
["GET
