The Ministry of Interior states that at the last meeting of the Working Group, activities carried out in the previous period regarding records of personal documents and places of residence of citizens were discussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"In this context, the situation after the expiry of the legal deadline for replacing ID cards was analyzed, and it was concluded that the Ministry of Internal Affairs had previously notified citizens who had not replaced their ID cards and sent them a call to fulfill their legal obligation. During the activities carried out, it was determined that a certain number of these calls were not taken, which may indicate that some citizens who have registered residence in Montenegro have not been residing in the country for a longer period of time,\" the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also, they add, during the checks conducted, it was determined that some of the persons who were the subject of the analysis had in the meantime died, and in those cases changes were made to the records, while for some of the persons the administrative procedures are in progress, after which they will also be deleted from the records in accordance with the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"During the meeting, activities related to updating residence records were also discussed in the context of issues that had an impact on the electoral process at certain polling stations in the municipality of \u0160avnik, where the electoral procedure has not yet been concluded,\" the Ministry of Interior said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The working group, they added, also considered the existing normative framework governing the area of \u200b\u200bresidence and temporary residence, pointing out certain limitations regarding the possibility of verifying the accuracy of reported addresses of residence in cases where the citizen has not previously submitted a request for a change of residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"In this context, the need to improve legal solutions was also considered, especially in the part that would enable more efficient checks of registered addresses of residence, as well as a clearer definition of the obligations of citizens who permanently go abroad,\" the Ministry of Interior emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The working group, they added, will continue to analyze the current situation and consider possible solutions in the coming period in order to improve the records that represent the basis for maintaining the voter register.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
