Montenegrin national team member Tomislav - Bato Djinović successfully began his performance at the prestigious senior tournament "Montenegro Cup 2026", which brought together boxers from 19 countries from four continents in Budva.

The member of BK Zlatičanin achieved a convincing victory over Andrijan Rustemovski from North Macedonia in the 60 kg category in the round of 16, winning by unanimous decision. From the very beginning of the match, Đinović imposed his own rhythm. In all three rounds, he was more specific, faster and technically more precise, so there was no doubt about the winner for the judges. Djinović justified expectations with a confident and mature fight and successfully opened the competition. His rival in the quarterfinals will be Mahamadali Gazimzade from Azerbaijan, who defeated Hamza Al Audouni from Belgium in the round of 16, also by unanimous decision of the judge.

One of the strongest senior tournaments in the world was officially opened today in the “Splendid” Congress Hall. After the welcoming speech of the President of the Boxing Federation of Montenegro Aleksandar Klemenko, the audience was addressed by the Honorary President of the World Boxing Organization Boris Van Den Vorst, who emphasized the importance of such tournaments for the development of boxing and international cooperation.

We are grateful for their dedication and hard work in organizing this event, said Boris Van Den Vorst, who also emphasized that boxing has returned to the Olympic program, which is a great success for this sport.
