In January, revenue growth of 6% was recorded, in February 6.7%, and in March 21% compared to last year and the year before. However, the price of ferry tickets will not increase, says for Novski portal the head of the Maritime and Coastal Transport Sector at JP Morsko dobro, captain Aleksandar Crvenko.
"We will not raise the price of the ticket even though fuel is "going crazy". We assume that this is precisely why traffic has increased, because it is less profitable to go around the bay due to the increasing prices of fuel. This means that the ticket for a small vehicle remains at 5 euros, with preferential rates for residents of Herceg Novi and Tivat, who have the card, at 3 euros, up to a maximum price for freight vehicles of 25 euros."
The fleet of eight ferries of the JP Morskogo dobro will be ready for the main season, and 770 thousand euros have been allocated for the overhaul of the vessels.
"The "Thirty-eighth" is currently undergoing a general overhaul. Both of its "voith schneider propellers" are being serviced by the manufacturer in Heidenheim, Germany. We have signed a contract directly with them. We will do the underwater part completely, so in the next two years we will no longer have to take it out on dry land, float it and generate income. The ferry is docked at the "Brodoremont Punat" shipyard. After the tenders were announced, the small ferries "Kamenari", "Lepetane" are going for overhaul again at the Croatian shipyards "Punat", and "Ruka pravde" to "Lošinjska plovodba". They will be operational for the summer tourist season", says Crvenko.
"Perast", "Grbalj", "Teodo", "Igalo" have already been repaired. The Maritime Safety Administration dictates strict rules that commercial ships must be taken out of the sea every two years to check their underwater parts. Wooden ships must be dry-docked every year, explains Crvenko.
The summer ferry service will start in June. An advertisement will be published in the coming days for the employment of 15 to 20 seasonal workers, who, according to Crvenko, will be hired for five or six months. They will form part of the team that currently has 136 employees on the ships, in the workshop, ticket offices, and office.
