Danka Kovinić was eliminated at the start of Roland Garros.

Our best tennis player was defeated in the first round by China's Xiu Wang 2:0 - 6:3, 6:1 after an hour and 19 minutes of play.

Danka lost serve six times (three in each set), and made two breaks, one in each set.

Kovinić is just on her way back. About twenty days ago in Turkey, she played her first match after a 14-month break due to injury.

For Novljanka, this was her first Grand Slam appearance since the 2023 US Open.

Her best result at the second Grand Slam of the season was in 2022 when she reached the third round.

Wang will play the winner of the Haley Baptist – Barbora Krejcikova match in the second round.

The top favorite of the tournament is Aryna Sabalenka, and the defending champion is Coco Goff.
